Andris, my 1st name. I know, very original :lol:.
My user name is also the name of the boat I live on.
I had to come up with something on the spot as British Waterways wouldn't ket me launch or licence my boat without a name.
I've come up with other names since but boaters are very superstitious and they advise against changing it now.

Mine is a derivative from my real name James that I use in more polite company. My "Nom De Guerre" for more combative forums like Gearslutz and Digidesign's DUC is "Sugarnutz" and visit those frequently. Just didn't think that was appropriate here. :eyebrows:

Hi - this is from an anecdote on the Radcliffe & Maconie Show on Radio 6. Don't think I even heard it right but the gist was: when giving your postcode over the 'phone for example and using (or not in this case) the phonetic alphabet. A guy said 'BN..' to which the reply was 'DN'..as in Delta November? Feeling under pressure and not knowing his P Alphabet, his rushed reply was - no "BN' as in errrr Barry Noggins! This tickled me - we have all been there I think and especially as my postcode ends in JT - the tempatation to say John Thomas is very strong!! BTW - this is told much better by the laconic Mark Radcliffe.

Her mouth worked without a sound for a few moments before she stumbled away with tears in her eyes. I actually managed to keep a straight face, but my buddy had laughed hard into his beer (which he'd quickly brought up in front of his face to hide his mirth), some of which was now dripping from his hair and face. Win win, really.

Back in the 'eighties a friend and I loved the film 'Restless Natives', in which a couple of Scottish lads put on masks and robbed folk. They got known, due to the masks, as the Clown and Wolfman.
My friend suggested we should use those names online - I said I didn't want the be the Clown(!) so he said "ok, you can be Wolfie", so it sort of stuck!
