I use DJ flight cases for the last 2 or 3 years...all shelf room is taken..I must have approaching 4500 CD's and being honest there are quite a few that will nevr be played ever again. I don't have them in any order as such and it can be a right B*****d trying to find a specific disc. Also aroun 3000 LP's which also aren't indexed. same problem as the latter.

As I seem to be going over to file based audio, storing them away seems a sensible option. I do catalogue them all in a spreadsheet too, but I'm not too worried about album art on the PC. I used to be very picky about it, scanning CD covers if the art wasn't right on-line, but if I did that now I would probably be scanning until I got my bus pass!
Maybe I should show your method to my best mate in China..... he's on the way to 5,000 CD's and his whole lounge is getting near the point of being shelved and shortly he will have to start going up the side of the stairs! His DVD and book collection is ridiculous too, taking up the second floor of his 3 storey house.......... must drive his wife nuts :scratch:
(oh, it's alphabetical and chronological here too - is there any other way ;))
