Does this site have to be funded by advertising? On the whole I thoroughly detest advertising - for example on TV, but I understand that other funding models don't always work well.
I use Wikipedia quite a lot, and I do on occasions fork out to support that web site. While I guess that many members here would perhaps not wish to subscribe, and also that there would be extra work involved by the site providers to get a different funding model operating, perhaps a modest subscription ("voluntary donation?") might relieve the problem and compared with the cost of a high end DAC or pickup cartridge etc., would be relatively insignificant for those who find this site worthwhile.

Good to hear that. Mixed mode models could also work. Even though I'm not a huge fan of adverts, that could also be a viable option. There are other possibilities - I don't know which would work best for this site, but I could, and probably would, fork out £10 to keep it going, though not necessarily on an annual basis. Over the years I've had more than ten quids worth of fun and help from this resource.Quote:
