Must say I'm rather impressed with this new Panasonic player - the visuals and sonics are stunning:)

Can't even watch the Sweeny or The Professionals because ITV 4 has been taken over by the French Open tennis. Bad enough that it's tennis without it being French as well.

And before that it was the Bore De France. There are four ITV channels so how come they always put this stuff on the only one of them that I watch?

yeah my one is great for money.. the pic i believe is as good, and maybe better than the upgraded oppo...especially downgrading 4k stuff to just hd.
the oppo is a better machine in other ways; connectivity for one

Sorry I was ranting. Yes each new one is always better than the old one isn't it? Unlike hi-fi, video does actually improve in quality with each new generation.

I bought a quite pricey Denon as my first DVD player back in 2001, got a cheapo Pioneer a couple of years later, was amazed at how much better it was. Sold the Denon to a mate and it's still going strong, gets used every day.

Yeah, good stuff. I reckon this Panny is where it's at picture-wise right now. Multiple forms of connectivity. uber-build quality, apps, etc, mean jack shit to me. All that matters is the audio and visual performance with 4K UHD discs, so this ticks all the right boxes - BIGTIME...:exactly:

Next up, a Dolby Atmos-compatible home-cinema amp, and more speakers!:D

Co-incidentally Denon look like they are cinema amps to go for right now. They've been testing various makes on ASR and the performance of most of the others was shockingly poor.

It'll defo be a Denon. The current one is Denon, and it's great, even with music:)

Yep but the longer you leave it between upgrades the more you notice the benefit :)

besides, the Pioneer I have now I got for free and I want to squeeze every penny out of it. :D
