I can understand you swapping to this; to me, this is THE best album The Fixx have done or will ever do - it's utterly sublime!!!!!

I still cant understand why the record companies have added different tracks to the later CD releases of this album - to me, they dont fit in with the original tracklisting of the vinyl release. This is an album that I prefer the vinyl version (WHICH, AS YOU PROBABLY KNOW, IS UNUSUAL FOR ME AS I AM A PERSON WHO PREFERS LISTENING TO CD's). :thumbsup:

I did not know the tracklisting is different on the CDs, all my albums are vinyl - so you wouldn't say adding the CDs is worth the bother then?

THE TRACKLISTING IS DIFFERENT ON THE CD's COMPARED TO THE VINYL;

Their are lots of different releases on CD by different companies; they all seem to have variations in tracks etc. I would go for the original release of the MCA CD if you could get it or one that closely replicates the original tracklisting. You, like me, might like to obtain the CD but, you probably won't bother when you see the price people are asking for it - it's totally ridiculous!!!!! I PROBABLY WOULDN'T BOTHER, JUST STICK TO YOUR VINYL LIKE ME (UNLESS YOU CAN GET THE CD AT A SENSIBLE PRICE) !! :thumbsup:

Just a suggestion, you could do what I did and that is, record your vinyl onto a CD; mine came out superb. I can play either now!! It's better than paying absolutely insane prices for a CD that cost approx £10-12 and now paying THE STUPID GREEDY B45T4RD5 ON EBAY upto anything like this:-

Trouble is, it isn't exactly rare; there's plenty of re-releases by about 6/7 companies. I put it down to just stupid greed..... simple as that!!!!

This album is just an everyday release, nothing rare about it and they're asking £124 and oh, I nearly forgot, 68p and incredibly, they've offered free post; that was decent of them wasn't it!!

The Fixx were always much bigger in US than over here, but that properly takes the piss. Well I won't be encouraging them, I'm happy to stick with me vinyl copies :)

There is no information about this CD on Discogs, as it was privately recorded and 'pressed'. All I can do is quote verbatim from the sleeve notes:

"This CD is a collection of covers and original songs. The covers and also 'Hey Mr. Postman' were recorded in Amsterdam in August 97, and feature Carlos Varnos on the electric guitar. The following five compositions were produced later the same year in Rio de Janeiro, my home town, with session musicians."

I was reminded of this by Piggurs, as it was Jan Hammer's birthday yesterday. Haven't played it for a long time and I now know why - it's awful: Jeff Beck might as well have not been there; Jan Hammer's synthesisers dominating the whole sound . It's a live recording, so the performance might have been enjoyable and exciting, but on LP none of that comes across. :(

I've always had doubts about Jeff Beck's later recordings and collaborations, so I played this to check:
