Had my 1970 Rolex Submariner serviced by Rolex couple of years ago. It was £2500 and came back with a warranty and fancy estimate of value. They replaced the bracelet but returned the old one. All looked brand new.

I had it done for my Son as I haven't got long to go and would far rather him have it than me putting it on E-Bay or whatever.

I have 3, the one I wear every day, a non-running dive watch which needs a service/battery (should probably sell it as I won't be diving again) and my Dad's Omega.

How many do you need . . . or is that a stupid question?

six if you count a couple of broken fake Rolexes.

Still mostly wear the Pulsar I bought myself for my thirtieth birthday. A lot of people comment on it, looks like an expensive watch I suppose but it was only fifty quid new. Although that was a long time ago now.

I remember asking Roy a similar question, and when I got the answer (I’ll let him update the current status!) I thought it was crazy to own more than a few watches…. That was then!

I haven’t counted properly, but I’d guess it’s now around the 70 to 80 mark…. (I’ve got watch cases for 52 “good” ones and they’re virtually full - old ones I don’t like or dead ones are in my under bed drawer, at least 20 in there…)

In fairness I do have too many and I reckon if I slim it down I’d aim for about 12 to 15. Never going to happen though!

I sent a box of broken/cheap crappy ones to vintage cash cow and got a few quid for them but it’s been a while since I had a tot up, around 200 I’d say.

Recently invested in some new cases that seem to offer better protection than the pleather ones with glass in the lid.
