If I can just develop my crap memory a bit further ("I'm sure I left them playing in the garden"), and throw in a bit of incontinence, I might be able to swerve great-grandparent duties.
In the past when families were closer, it would be the grandparents who would look after the children whilst the parents were working. The grand children in turn would later look after the grandparents when they became very old and unable to look after themselves.

Most of my Asian customers seem to be multi-generation households, because they respect and care for their elders. The best we can hope for in our dotage is to not get mugged, burgled or scammed.
I don't have any children of my own, but I have 'inherited' a family from my partner. But I doubt if they will look after us in our (or rather my) old age. :doh:
Best thing we can do is get them a decent education so they can get a well paid job. Then hope they can spend some of their income on a decent care home for us where the residents aren't routinely physically and mentally abused.Quote:
