Settling down to watch season finale of Better Call Saul on Netflix...

Storm over the Nile (1955) Anthony Steel and Laurence harvey star, with James Robertson Justice in this very likable adventure film remake of the four feathers....The book was very different but that doesnt take away from the film. The older version was better , but they share many of the war scenes
'Milius' - Documentary film about writer and director John Milius (Apocalypse Now, Conan The Barbarian).
Fascinating film about a larger than life character. Interesting in that he reckons that Red Dawn, despite being a huge box-office success, destroyed his career in right-on Hollywood. Although the stars and other directors interviewed in the film seem to think it was more to do with his habit of toying with a loaded Colt 45 pistol during meetings...
Its a great way to get your project made though..."what do you think mate" while stoking a loaded pistol :eyebrows:

Just watched both of the early 70s made for TV films kolchak The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler. Excellent noir horror stories, written by Richard Matheson, featuring a hardened and hard done by news reporter, acted by Darren Mcgavin.
Well worth watching again and I will be giving the TV series ago too. Saw this all years ago but despite their age they hold up well, great writing stands the test of time.

'Olympus Has Fallen'
Basically a Die hard re-make with The White House substituting for Nakatomi Plaza and without the former's witty script and likeable characters. Starts a bit slow, gets better wehn the action starts, but then just gets silly. If it didn't take itself so seriously it wouldn't be too bad. So many plot holes they would fill a book but the main one is that the incredibly complex North Korean plan entirely hinges on the President over-riding security procedures and allowing the Koreans into the White House bunker otherwise it would fail completely. How could they possibly be certain that he would do that?
Also if you are a group of secret service agent defending the White House against a ground attack by about 100 gadgees armed with AK47s and rocket launchers it is probably not your best plan to stand out in the open on the front steps blasting away with your pistols until you inevitably get mown down.
So all in all a bit crap but don't worry a sequel will be here in October (that's not a joke btw).
How to Murder Your Wife 1965 starring Jack Lemmon, Terry-Thomas and the beautiful Virna Lisi. super film this and great to find it available on prime.
Carry on Forever.. Quite sad that most the original carry on team are long gone. Carry ons were an important part of my life as a kid.. Its a shame kids don't watch old stuff like that these days instead of filling their heads with shit. :rolleyes:
The Duellists (Film4 now)
One of my favourite films. A story of love, honour and pig headed stupidity as two officers in Napoleon's army fight numerous duels to settle a point of honour that becomes less and less why they fight. Keith Carradine and Harvey Keitel are the main protagonists. Beautiful film, fabulous costumes and some truly bloody duels, Ridley Scott's first film and despite it being small scale re budget it is epic re scope.
The film is sited as being an accurate portrayal of Napoleonic period military conduct and uniform changes.

Two Way Stretch 1960 starring Peter Sellers, Bernard Cribbins, Wilfrid Hyde-White and the ever loved Irene Handl. Top film this as Sellers arranges to steal some diamonds while in prison, thus having the perfect alibi.
Yes, that is a truly excellent film. The realisation that Keith Carradine has got the better of Harvey Keitel, and that Keitel has to now retire in disgrace is utterly moving.Quote:

Herman Wouk's follow up book to The Winds of War, and made into a mini series in 1988; starring Robert Mitchum and the lovely Victoria Tennant in lead roles with Polly Bergen, Topol John Guilgud and Robert Hardy among the many supporting stars. Both these books are among my favorites and these series are pretty good..
The death camp scenes are hard going, although people should always be reminded of what can happen if your guard is let down...should be shown in schools
Currently watching Dusty Springfield at the BBC on yesterday channel. Boy did she were some get-up's lol. add in the Quaffed hair and you have the quintessential superstar of the 60's ..... Cilla was there too in a ridiculously short skirt....legs are rather better than I remember and go all the way to yaya:lol:

Working my way through a box set of The Prisoner (about halfway through now). I must have seen this first time around, but apart from the opening credits none of it rings a bell.
Dark City (1998) written and directed by Alex Proyas who went on to do I robot a few years later... Stars Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly and William Hurt.
Not seen this before so it will be interesting. included in my Amazon Prime.

George Kennedy was brilliant in it, my favourite "heavy" of the 70's...
My two favourite Bridges movies are 'The big Lebowski' and 'Arlington Road'. Quality!
(mind you Arlington Road is desperately bleak)
