In all the years I've been paying leccy bills, I've NEVER been in credit, let alone to the tune of nearly £2k! I simply pay what's owed every quarter, no more, no less, which I thought is what everyone did....

That's what I do now as well Marco, pay the bill when it comes.

However a lot of people pay a fixed monthly direct debit, with the amount always being put up by the energy providers, rather than adjusted to match the actual annual consumption :mental:

i pay monthly. in summer i'm in front but in winter it gets used. its easier to bughet

Ah I see... Don't see any advantage in that though (other than ensuring that payment is made when there's defo money in the account), and it's a recipe for the utility company in question to use you as a bank, which is precisely what's happened.

Nope, that doesn't happen with us, especially with the judicious use of our smart meter! ;)

I quite like it that way sometimes, as I just close the curtains, light some candles, and bask in the glow of the log fire and lights from the Christmas tree. Makes the room feel nice and cosy :)

Yes I know what you mean. Now it's dark the curtains drawn and it's cosy and warm for us. Cat is curled up and snoring. :)

Yup, and that's just how wintertime is, so enjoy it rather than fight it. Aside from those who suffer from SAD, which I sympathise with, I don't get why folk need to have every day of their lives filled with continuous bright sunshine, in order to feel happy.... :hmm:

Perhaps the gloominess of their lives is being ruthlessly exposed by the gloomy weather? Dunno.
