Can't fault the actual venue in terms of drinks , food etc . Steve . However I do think a more conventional type of room ( oblong or square ) would show the systems , particularly the speakers at their best .

Yes, I have to agree about the room shape.
The split floor wasted a lot of space, we could have done what we did in a far smaller conventional rectangular room, with the benefit of better acoustics in the smaller space, at least more like those in a home environment, which is what we tend to voice the gear in.
As for the number of set ups, the more the better as far as I'm concerned. Makes for less down time, allways someone ready to play. My system and Gordons as well, took over an hour to set up. That wouldn't work if there were say just two set ups, Steve, remember how well things worked at Owston with about eight set ups on the go?
The Venue for Nebo6 served its purpose, but I think it could be bettered in terms of showing the gear at its best. It did however score well for good parking, nearby accomodation and on-site food and drink.
I hear you and I am on the hunt.
Mind somewhere with 230V mains!

An alternative, could be several interconnecting smaller rooms.
Accoustically, the two smaller rooms we used upstairs at the Windmill were not bad, the stairs were a pain for lugging gear up though. We have lost that venue but something similar on the ground floor might be good, two set ups in each room could be enough to keep things flowing.
I will keep my eyes and ears open for anything we might want to consider. I know of a church Hall, but alcohol would be a no no and accomodation is no where near. like Ali points out, it's not an easy set of criterion to match, so some compramise may have to be made.
Steve - The Rugby club below where "Steetleys" used to be has a poster up saying "Free function room" and I believe the other Rugby club on the main coast road north of Hartlepool General Hospital does the same. Could be worth checking these out.
Yep, we've also tried that, but for me it takes something away from the the social aspect of the day IMHO.
I could suggest any number of potential venues in the Gateshead/Newcastle area ranging from working men's club function rooms, an arts centre, or for a small/medium do a professional recording studio owned by a friend (bring our own refreshments obviously). Of course that might mean relocating NEBO from its Teesside roots which might not be popular, but may make it more accessible for those coming via train etc.
If you want me to explore these, let me know.
Personally, I don't think there was anything much wrong with the last venue, if next time the space allocated was used, shall we say, rather more 'productively'... Remember how good that system sounded by the dance floor! ;)
