First up this legendary live Jazz album from 1976, recorded at the Jazzpuben Stampen (A Pawnshop had operated on the site before the Jazz club) Stockholm.
Featuring Arne Domnιrus, alto sax, clarinet; Bengt Hallberg, piano; Lars Erstrand, vibes; Georg Riedel, bass; and Egil Johansen, drums. Considered by many as one of the best sounding Jazz albums of the 20th Century.
I have both albums on vinyl (this one and volume 2) and I have this one on cd too and then there's the 30th Anniversary SACD Hybrid 4 CD box set on its way too !

Next up this classic from 1982 and his 8th studio album, he started his album recording career with the now famous "With A Little Help From My Friends" featuring the single of the same name which brought him to near-instant stardom. The song reached number one in the UK in 1968 and became a staple of his many live shows.
This album recorded at Compass Point studios in the Bahamas sees cocker accompanied by the Compass Point All-Stars and a few notable guests.

Last up we go to vinyl and this rarely played original release pressing from 1982. This album by the " Red Rocker" was his first Platinum album and was to provide 5 singles: Baby's on Fire, Can't Get Loose, I'll Fall in Love Again, There's Only One Way To Rock and a great version of the 1967 classic Piece Of My Heart.

IMHO they are all pretty good, and each has its own signature in some way, I, II & III epitomise them for me. Runes as you say may be considered a more commercial approach, possibly because of Stairway to Heaven. Houses of the Holy I think is reminiscent of encapsulating aspects of III & Runes(IV). Physical Graffiti is interesting because it has aspects of nearly all their earlier works rhythmically and musically but in near material. Presence, a much maligned album IMO has some great material, I think it got a bad press as it was perceived as more of the same. I also really like In Through The Outdoor a darker heavier approach with throwbacks to a Phys Gaff feel, not so keen on CODA. Would be interesting to know what the band think.Quote:

So we start the morning with this debut album from 2000, their first release being an EP The Blue Room in 1999.
The album gave us four singles, Shiver, Trouble, Yellow and Don't Panic.
The album has sold Platinum in six countries plus Double Platinum in New Zealand, Canada, Belgium and the US, plus Quadruple Platinum in Denmark and an incredible Nontuple (9 times Platinum) in the UK.

We finished the morning with vinyl and this Linn Records reissue of this classic Verve album from 1962. Featuring two Jazz legends namely Stan Getz on Tenor Saxophone and Charlie Byrd on Guitar. Assited by Keter Betts on Double Bass, Buddy Deppenschmidt on Drums, Gene Byrd on Guitar and Bass, Bill Reichenbach Sr. On Drums.
This album signaled the beginning of the Bossa Nova craze in the USA.
