Any changes to exhaust systems has an impact on the engine's behaviour, so the remap will be better set up for the car if done after.

Ha - lol! No, because the guy doing the job is a specialist, and has fitted them before to many diesel cars, so he knows the kind of noise/sound that I'm looking for.

No. I don't Marco. I used to build and tune my own engines, along with all the associated fuelling and exhaust mods. All my tech books are long gone. But I've not forgotten the principles.

My car has a fairly loud exhaust and definitely sounds tractorish. I like it!

I drive long distances in my diesel car, and the last thing I want is a loud exhaust note.
It gets quite tiring.

I had a longlife exhaust fitted to a previous diesel car (306DTurbo) as it was cheaper than the mild steel versions I could buy from tyre/exhaust centres. Did not go for the "loud" option though. Having the Caterham on a side exit exhaust is enough.

Nah, it won't be like that. The idea is that the 'exhaust note' will be heard mainly when the engine is revved hard or idling (in that instance a low-note 'burble'). I've asked him, if he has time, to record a video when he's happy with the install, and email it to me with the engine is being revved, which if he does, I'll post here for your delectation :)
