Yes even my dodgy peepers can make that out :) Question for you Roy - are there movements that you would recommend, and ones you would avoid? I see some are automatic, some quartz, even saw one that was solar yesterday! Me and Mrs. P are looking at options for my birthday pressie, and I value your judgement.
For longevity I’d go for an automatic movement, the workhorse Seiko NH35A being a well used one by many manufacturers with reasonable accuracy and mostly good value.
Quartz watches are convenient because they’re always ready to go straight out of the box but if you go the auto route and wear your watch all the time that doesn’t matter.
Solar watches should last forever but I’ve known them fail. Citizen eco drives are well established in this category.
Watch some YouTube watch gurus to get a better idea of what’s available - the mad watch collector and just one more watch are ok. If you come across something you like the look of search the yt videos, chances are someone’s reviewed it!
Over on hotukdeals there is a post about a Steeldive dive watch with Sapphire Crystal and NH35 movement (rather than NH35A - I've no idea of the difference but I suspect Roy would be able to help on this) for £37.29 from Aliexpress, possibly some import tax. Available from the 11th Nov. Seems silly cheap to me but then I know nothing about watches. I quite like the shape.

AKA 4R35 ;). More info on that movement here - https://calibercorner.com/seiko-caliber-nh35a/
Yes, I've paid around that for a NH35 equipped watch and Steeldive's are quite well finished (I have one or two surprisingly...).
Fancied wearing something "subtle" for a wee while...

The crystal is filled with oil, which is pretty cool.
Sunburst dial under the oil catches the light in a different way, and at 44mm it really pops.
Added bonus, you can use it as a spirit level!
Definitely not for everyone, but I love it.
Good name for a diver's watch. German is it? Achtung! Untertauchen!
Italian.
Think WW2 frogmen - Hence the Green... :D
also,
Despite being a U-Boat,
at 50m water resistance, I wouldnt wear it swimming.
