I had a set of at's similar to those many years ago.. they were quite good, and i drove them with a graham slee headphone amp, out of the tape sockets of my mfa1000.. was good.

Replaced the flex on an iron today. It had frayed with use, and even worse the outer rubber cladding had split exposing the three inner cores. Often with modern electrical items, they are deliberately designed to be irreparable, but this was an old model: a Rowenta made in Czechoslovakia and some thirty years old.

Even so, I could not see how to to dismantle it to replace the lead. As always, my partner just took one look at it and spotted a solitary fixing screw tucked away behind the rubber cable relief shroud. It was then straightforward to open up the iron and replace the lead, but it took an extra pair of hands to refit the screw!
