Felt sorry for both the musicians and the audience. The venue was just outside Television Centre. It was raining and the horn players were wearing gloves!
Very sad to see TVC close. The building is now old-fashioned, and not suited to modern TV production and would cost a fortune to refurbish and modernise technically, but part of the country's heritage is being lost. Just another act of establishment vandalism. :steam:
Enjoyed the Dr. Feelgood item. Sadly Wilco has been diagnosed with terminal pancriatic cancer and has decided not to have treatment.
When you look back at the '70s and the diversity of music there was, it was quite astonishing really. It must have been the most creative decade for music we're ever likely to see.

Even better viewing is "Telstar; the Joe Meek Story", being shown on BBC2 tonight at 11.05.
Biographical drama. In the 1960s, music producer Joe Meek invented new methods of recording that resulted in a string of hit records. But behind the genius lay a troubled soul who struggled to come to terms with his sexuality and was prone to violent outbursts, ultimately leading to tragedy.
The film contains some shocking scenes: one of which is of Meek throwing a Ferrograph tape machine out of a first-floor window in a fit of pique!

Well............originally the title of the thread was 'On BBC4 Tonight'.
This was because there is always some music stuff on a Friday night on BBC4.
But it became apparent that other channels show stuff about music too and if they wanted to let people know about it then members were starting new threads. But those threads became useless after the event.
So, being (on that particular day) a rather clever and talented moderator, I decided to change the title to allow people to use it more flexibly. However, as I've been doing it so long the other way, I forget that I changed it. I said I was clever, not Mr Memory!
.......and besides, up until just now, it was only Tim & me who gave a shit!
