Hi John
Before you go any further, could you please pop into the Welcome area and introduce yourself to our community, as you were asked to do in the registration email you received - ta!
John would you please comply with the direction you received when you joined AoS to start a new thread in the Welcome section in order to introduce yourself to the community? You could tell us a little about yourself, your system & your music - it really is the best way to be sure of warm welcome.
Thanks
EDIT: Oops! I missed David's post
I've recently installed a new version of my speakers. These come from Trans-Fi, they are are now hybrids (Bastanis / Trans-Fi). They have one Bastanis Chrystal 12 inch wideband and a Gemini tweeter per side. There are two 15 inch bass drivers per side too. All drivers are arranged as pure dipoles. They sound great, bass integration in particular is fabulous. There are currently only two sets of these speakers in existence, John has heard the other set, maybe he'll comment. What I can say is that these speakers are brilliant and I'm a very happy bunny! They look really great too, even my wife like how they look - believe me when I say that is a REAL compliment to Vic!

The best sounding speakers I heard; the bass is stunning so much depth and everything intergrates well I think one of the bass drivers strength is it upper mid it now perfectly works with the Bastanis drivers. Before there was a hole that made rock sound like it was compressed it lacked a bit of energy now electric guitars just sound right. The Crystals are a bit more detailed than my Hawthornes and just work so well with the Neos a perfect match
What I love about the speakers is that it can nail you to the floor with the sound it produces without any hint of fatique
I just think the open back bass works so much better if you have the drivers than can handle it.
The speakers is fun but can seduce you at the same time Increadble value for money and as much I love the speakers I have this is a few steps in front of mine
I also think one Crystal (Bastanis) driver allows better balance than two I could not enjoy the sound with two the balance sounded to full on but with one driver the balance sounds spot on
Wow - they look fabulous Clive.
You nailed it John, an excellent description!
When I heard Vics speakers just using a £50 DAC I was stunned with the bass and soundstage when we used my DAC the sound opened up it had more space and detail. With the Salvation I did not want to leave I could of listened for hours and hours
I think the best way I can describe the speakers they take you as close as I heard to the actual event of the recording well at least how I imagine it to sound, just stunning makes you want to listen
I've had more time today to listen to the new version on my speakers. Yesterday (Christmas Day) the speakers worked hard all day so the new bass units are nicely exercised now; so much so I had to turn down the bass amps as driver efficiency had improved.
These speakers do rock with gusto and more intimate music with passion. They really can do it all. Even though I'm a die hard vinyl fan I have to say that redbook file audio (CD if you prefer) sounds very fine too. One area that's helped redbook file audio is the power of the mid/upper bass. These speakers make redbook sound more like a record deck. Some may feel that's a negative and other will not.
Everyone who's heard the speakers has been knocked out by their sound and looks.
I was speaking with Vic and was also saying how much he is enjoying listening to digital with these speakers and he is one of the most dedicated vinyl guys I know. They just seem to allow you to play music with all its passion and intimacy. I not heard a balance quite like it
Something that stands out over the previous version of my speakers is the really strong tune-playing in the mid to upper bass, along with the sheer power an extension of deep bass. This provides a very strong foundation for music. The mid and treble balance the bass very well, integration is so good too.
