Agree 100% Adrian, my favourite PG album too. Hard to believe it's over 40 years since it was first released. And considering how much play it's had over that time, amazing the vinyl is still in good shape.Quote:

Regarding Classical music, it's a huge subject to cover. Since almost always the composer was not able to have a recording made of either their performance, or of them conducting/directing an ensemble playing their work, recordings available are those of modern ensambles. Performances of the same piece by different performers can sound as different as playing the same LP with different cartridges.
Good one there. :)Quote:

I think I might have had that LP at sometime. But if I did it was only for about half an hour - it's that good. :D

I'll just squeeze this one in before Anita gets home:

Volume turned up to 9 o'clock position (doesn't take much with this amp). Some serious bass on this CD. When she gets back she will be wondering why all her Willow Tree figurines have shifted on the shelves. I'll blame the cat of course :)
 Touché! ;)Quote:

Not usually a fan of covers albums but this is simply awesome. Springsteen at his best taking us through the songs he grew up listening to.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...760db41472.jpg

For those who have never heard of Peter Grant, this is his debut 2006 album. Leeds born and in every sense the equal of Matt Monroe or even Michael Bublé this album contains a raft of great songs, superb arrangements and vocals to equal or better any of the most well known versions of these songs. For me his version of Scott Walker's classic Joanna, has to be the best cover I've heard, plus a great arrangement and vocal of the classic Spooky by Atlanta Rhythm Section and a wonderful version of the Beatles Fool on the Hill !https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...9a8c98eae5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...a1692a7787.jpg

Next up is this "must have" album this will really take you "All the Way to Heaven". The songs were recorded live in the studio, so it has real musicians playing at the same time in the same place, how novel ! Nona gets 4 songs , Billy gets 4 songs, and there are 2 duets. Stand outs are the aforementioned All the Way to Heaven, It's Your Thing, Storybook Children and Don't You Know You Have To Cry Sometime.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4fa2dc66c8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...2f7c75f380.jpg

Then finally if time allows before starting work, ahh the joys of working from home ! Now this album is a great example of the great talent of the man, that was New Orleans born Walter Wolfman Washington, the 1991 album Sada is a collection of great songs including the self penned title track Sada inspired by his daughter Sada.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...fae6db8419.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...93ded8f6f7.jpg
