Quick question- I'm getting a lot of static, to the point where the mat comes away with the record. At the moment there is no mains earth on the mains cable to the TT. Is there any mileage in connecting a mains earth and running a wire to one of the spindle bolts to help this?

Astonishes me how everybody can bravely buck the old '70's 80's 90's trend and recognise Technics made some great HiFi products (U205C Mk3 or 4, EPS 310), and pick the wrong bloody ones. I think this has to do with the humidity in the room, type of mat and possibly the material of clothes and carpet rather than stray electricity that needs grounding. Are you using a felt mat?Quote:
