Probably because it's still three weeks away. I know the advertisers would have us believe it's upon us, just ignore them. Maybe a tipple of your favourite spirits will get you into the spirit.

I start getting into it properly after Del's birthday on 13th December, which is when we put up the tree and make the house all nice and Christmassy... The feeling of getting into the Christmas spirit really kicks in though as soon as Del finishes work and is off for 2 weeks, which this year is 21st December - after which it's party time, and we start cracking open the booze and cooking all the lovely food we've bought!:partytime:

Sounds like a fab holiday, but did they have a waterpark? We'd need something to keep the grandkids entertained.

Yes I think that is plenty early enough - we would normally do the tree etc. about a week to ten days before, and take it all down on the twelfth night. I personally would de-trim sooner than that as I think after New Year is over it all starts to look a bit untidy.

On an unrelated note, my great love and best friend Mrs. Pony turns 50 today, and as a special treat I'm going to give her 24 hours of not taking the mickey out of everything she says and does - it's going to be a long day :eek:

Thanks guys, I will certainly pass on your good wishes.

I haven't actually bought her anything yet, apart from a blu ray box set of the last two Jurassic World films. My funds wouldn't stretch to a new phono stage for her turntable which is what she'd really like - might get her one in the spring just as soon as you (Alan) get round to making it :D

I am going to go shopping with her on Saturday, probably Shrewsbury (as per Marco's recommendation) and she can find something nice there. I've managed to secretly save about £100 to add to whatever she chooses, and if she wants to spend an hour or two in Shrewsburys excellent looking record shops, who am I to stop her?

We have spent most days at the hospital over the last few weeks and that looks to continue for the foreseeable

Colin was given 3-5 years some 18 years ago so he's done well, he's such a fighter, but it is really stressful at the moment

The new big smart tv is amazing, I'm really impressed with my new Samsung

I've never really been 'into' films before but as I've got a free month trial of Netflix I've been enjoying some 'classic' films I've not seen for years and as I'm a Amazon Prime member I've also used Amazon Prime tv as well

I'll go tomorrow when the temperature has warmed up. Try and get enough for the week so I don't have to go back until after Boxing Day. Supermarkets are hell on earth at the best of times let alone the week before Xmas and they're getting worse. I think I might start ordering on line and getting it delivered.

You're retired, so can go at the quietest times and avoid the worst of that pish... At this time of the year the earlier in the morning, the better for supermarkets. Tuesday will likely be a good day, say around 7am. Bet you there won't be many "headless chickens" around then!;)

We're pretty much sorted now, aside from collecting the goose from the butcher, which we usually do early doors on Xmas eve (8am), and all the veg for Xmas lunch, and which we buy from the farmers market the same morning, so that everything is as fresh as possible for the big day:cool:

Lovely fresh veggies at bargain prices in Tesco yesterday, 2.5Kg potatoes for 19p, bag of Brussels sprouts 29p, bag of parsnips 29p, Cauliflower (v nice one) 29p. Probably going to Lidl today, may find they have similar offers.

This year we will be spending Christmas in London. The Turkish owned supermarket on the corner is open 24/7/365. They offer the widest range of fresh fruit and vegetables imaginable. All of it is very good quality and reasonably priced. :)

Hilarious row going on in the House of Commons at the moment. Jeremy Corbyn accused of calling Mrs May a "stupid woman". He muttered it after she'd been speaking and the cameras caught it. Nobody heard what he said and he claims to have said "stupid people", but I can lipread and know he is as guilty as hell. I doubt he really gives a toss anyway! (and he was right :))

Me and Mrs. P are off to a pub quiz shortly. I have mixed feelings about this - I don't mind thinking of myself as a bit thick, but this will make it "official". First prize is four free pints of a beer of your choice, but I won't let it change me.
