These came out just before Audio Innovations ceased trading. Richer Sounds bought the design, company, etc afterwards but just produced the Alto and a Cd player and not the valve designs which made AI famous.Quote:

It is an early one, as there is no system link bus bar connection that later ones (Richer sounds) have that hook the amplifier up to the Cd player (I think Richer did a tuner) and allow it to work like a midi system.

The Stemfoort 'SF60' & 'SF100' amps were great, was a matching phonostage aswell..I prefered the Silver one to the black tho.

£161 ?!! I paid £30 for mine fitted with anti skate bias and adaptor to allow the Decca Mk V and Mk VI cartridges to be used with the ffss arm.

Why are classic pieces fetching so much now, well certain overrated british pieces have for a bit several obvious reasons, but now anything worth bothering with hold a price..My heart is with vintage gear but over the last few months i've started selling my items, i've quite frankly lost intrest in it all, over fabricated prices have yet again destroyed one of my intrests i was once so passionate about.

They were indeed different - the original were purely Audio Innovations design, but the later ones are a bit of a Richer Sounds/Audio Partnership Chinese-factory mash-up. They're still not bad units but nowhere near as good as the originals.Quote:
