Saw a "Rolex" diver's watch for sale at a local boot sale. Obviously a fake, but a good one. The face looked genuine, the sweep second hand moved with 5 'ticks' per second, the bracelet looked genuine with the correct Rolex motife on the clasp, and even the back (always a giveaway) had what looked like the correct 'serrated' edge to unscrew the back.

But for an asking price of £50 it could have hardly been genuine.

Might have been partly genuine. I have one like that. My brother got it from a Rolex dealer. I've been told that it's not uncommon for high end ringers to be a mix of fake and real parts. Roy might know more about that.
