I came to Tom Waits very late, having heard bits and pieces and not getting on with it. It changed for me when I heard Blue Valentine. More accessible, with a back story / theme to it. I bought it, played it a few times and began to "get" Tom Waits. I moved on to Rain Dogs and after that, I'd say I've liked 80% of the Albums I've heard of his.

I’ve decided that I really, really like Eno era Roxy Music.

Joni Mitchell - 'Blue'
Probably Joni Mitchell's most personal recording.

Geese - 3D Country
Can't believe this is 36 years old this year - one of the few albums I bought on cassette - ready to listen to on my Walkman knock-off (Saisho from Rumbelows I believe it was!) on my first holiday abroad (Magaluf, of course!)

Saisho was Dixons/Rumbelows fake Japanese brand and Currys had Matsui. I remember Amstrad was the next tier up in pricing!
Although one of my brothers had a Saisho walkman. Very plastiky but the sound was fine. I used to 'borrow' it when he was out. He was always complaining how quick it used up the batteries.

Geese- Projector
Yes, mine was very plastiky - and bright red! I do remember it sounded ok. (I couldn't remember the Currys brand but obvious now you say it!)
Next spin.

Another Dixons brand was Prinzsound - I had a portable cassette recorder made by them, bought in 1976 (I wonder what that would be in today's money). It no doubt sounded shit and ate batteries like a good 'un. The only tapes I had for it were Autobahn album and Temptations greatest hits.
The cover would put me off!
Just ordered a copy of this, not least because it has Professional Widow on it, and my single disappeared years ago. In the meantime, putting this on:

I like the album art, I'd have that on my wall :)
Bugger. Still be worth having though, and it was only 3 quid. I got caught out with the last recommendation from you Alex (Layo & Bushwacka "Night Works") - it didn't have the full vocal version of "Love Story". So then I bought the single, but still didn't have the version I was after, I should have gone for "Love Story vs. Finally" Silly me. Still, the rest of the album is one of the very best EDM albums around I think. So all in all, mustn't grumble :)
Another one not played in years.
