The lure of golf is so strong that he was happy to risk waking a neighbour up at 0800 on a Sunday rather than go without. My father was the same. It's as bad as heroin addiction: Don't start kids! Just say no to golf!

The new Golf R's are pretty cool, I wouldn't say no to one of them.
Me and some mates had a go at golf a couple of times when we were younger - it was only fun because we were all shit at it. I knew if that if I got any better the fun would go out of it. Constantly trying to improve or even maintain a handicap looks like a recipe for misery.
Just bought me one of those new-fangled water filter things. Having first glass from it now, it does seem to make a lot of difference to the taste.
Yesh, especially if you live in somewhere like Stoke (lol), or worse, London!:D
Nice one. Just remember to clean it out now and then;)
Marco.
Our water here is actually pretty good. Even so you can slightly taste the chlorine sometimes now which you didn't use to be able to. That's why I got the filter. As for London I don't know about all of it but at my mate's flat in Tulse Hill it's just foul.
Things must've changed then since Del worked and lived in London, admittedly that was during the late 80s... Cups of tea, made with tap water, would be accompanied by a nice 'oil slick' on top:spew:
As a result, everyone who lived there back then drank mineral water! Pleased to see that things have improved:)
Marco.
Well, there you go... I've always been used to having superb tap water available wherever I've lived.
When I lived in Glasgow, we got our water from the Trossachs/Campsie Fells (doesn't get much purer), and here it comes off the Berwyn mountains. There's simply no taste advantage in using filters or buying mineral water.
Anyway mate, enjoy... Even your tea and coffee will taste better:)
Marco.
Nationally the water will be chlorinated to a certain percentage, regardless of your postcode. Macca may simply be more sensitive to differences than Marco when it comes to drinking water. Marco's water may well be coming from somewhere nice, but is still likely to pick up the odd dead sheep or shepherd turd along the way.
I hear in Wales they marinate the drinking water in dead sheep before sending down the pipes...
drink spring water... mind you, the rest of the year is s bugger:eek:
I keep hearing about Amber Rudd. Thought that was a real ale?
Yes but when you're as friendly with 'Bessie' (and her pals), as I am, your palate is so honed on sheep-juice, you don't really notice the extra flavour the above imparts. It's like having orange juice with added 'bits', although in this case the 'bits' in question don't come from oranges.
Marco.
always drink bottled water.. prefer evian, now i can afford it again, although buxton is not bad and cheaper. not much wrong with our tap water but its soft, and thus not so enjoyable to drink.. your equipment doesnt furr up tho so a benefit there

Anyone else have there name on it?
Is that what they're calling it, the Mars Lander? Nowt wrong with a bit of optimism I suppose. Personally I would go with "Mars Approacher" until it happens. :) It's a shame I won't live long enough to see us inhabit the place. I would like to open its first pub. I would call it "The Mars Bar".
Seriously Paul, that looks like a nice idea - would no doubt help with funding the mission, and get people more involved in it. Was it expensive? On a slightly related note, C4 is airing an eight-part series called "The First", about a mission to Mars. If you've not seen it, it's definitely worth a watch. One of the few things on telly that me and Mrs. P are both enjoying. :)
Business at the Pub on Mars might be a little slow these days? Perhaps a nice pub in orbit makes more sense? Within space-walking distance of the international Space Station. There are always 4 or 5 patrons hanging out near by.

Due to the whole weightlessness thing, they would only serve light beers.
If you're going to open the Mars Bar Steve then you'd need a decent takeaway nearby for the drunken walk home. I'd find it very hard to resist a Space Kebab or Stellar Burger
Day off tomorrow so a small libation, mid drink, sneezed,Jamesons all over place!
Ooh, Stellar Burger, the thought's making me hungry. You know, life on Mars would be great for a greedy pig like me - gravity there is such that objects there are only a third of the weight they are here, so I could eat three times as much without putting on weight. Happy days!
"Moderation in everything - including moderation."
Probably said by Oscar Wilde, but then he was not averse to appropriating pithy aphorisms.
I used to know one of the blokes who was in that Oscar Wilde film with Stephen Fry. Can't remember his name. Matthew something or other. He was in Men Behaving Badly too.
Any relation of Mrs Mills?
Marco.
They're a dark and satanic lot
I see they've given a donor face to that guy who blew the old one off in a failed gun suicide attempt. I wonder what they'd have done if he'd shot his arse to bits?
Just be poetic justice really, him having to watch you having a shit for the rest of your life. We've been subjected to more than enough of his shit.
And going on his past TV appearances, I'd be nothing if not regular :)
