Great disc...well worth checking out. Quite realistic perspectives for Maira Joao Pires's piano in the Schumann with a nice sense of 'distance' instead of the spotlighting that's all too common.

..its a very nice album Jerry. quite uplifting and perhaps not what many would think.Anne von Otter s voice is sweet as a nut. obviously I know of Theresienstadt. the so called show camp or to be precise A Show Getto. youd like it for its honest simplicity. just piano and occasional squeezebox etc, as thats whatcwas available mostly at time of writing. think theres an oboe and sime violin occasionally too.
it is surprising how upbeat people in such a horrible situation can be..rising above the horror and terror to produce such music..a true legacy ime
I tried that concentration camp recording thru Tidal streaming, and it is very upbeat! But couldn't listen to too much as classical song is not really my thing.

not a big classical listener but i like what i like...only got about 20 recordings at a guess...maybe 25. my bro is more into it especially choral as he is a or was a bit of a classical singer...played places like the Usher Hall and some stuff abroad. he was a good baratone.

Wonderful. :) -- I spent a while trying a few excerpts on Tidal from many versions before settling down with this one.
Recorded in 1972 & 74 in superb Melodiya sound.
