The sound stage is as flat as a board, with no depth or solidity to the instruments - they just pop up and down, in and out like the flags on an old fashioned cash register, or the ducks in a shooting gallery.

Cooder was initially enthusiastic about the recording, but has since disowned it.

Ironically the CD sounds marginally better than the LP.

I have Bop till you drop on vinyl and it is a terrible recording, thin flat and sounds very digital for all the wrong reasons. Paris Texas comes from another universe.

Al Di Meola, Orange and Blue. Absolutely sublime.

I'm not keen on Taj's later recordings - bit too middle of the road for my tastes.

Nice.

That brought to mind this young gentleman. Al DiMeola actually enjoyed sharing the stage with him. (After getting and listening to Mancuso on the PFM The Event LP, following up with his solo effort was a foregone conclusion. I will be following his career/output.)
