most folk who apply themselves can pass exams, especially where reading and memorising are the main constituents... being intelligent is a different ball game
It's the difference between having knowledge and knowing how to use it.
Being academic isn't the same as having common sense, and most of these chinless wonders are devoid of having any, almost as much as they are divorced from reality... I detest such creatures like you couldn't imagine... Plus he's on record as being anti-Scottish, and anyone who's so blatantly anti-Scottish as him is my enemy!

Well, don't pollute this thread with politics, or indeed any other thread on the forum. If you want to talk about that pish, start a separate (and dedicated) discussion, so all that cack can be kept in the one place.

Well it doesnt follow that read people are not intelligent but neither does it the other way. Its a form of ability, much like ability to pick up mechanical stuff easily. My Brother was university educated and a teacher, and was fairly good at lots of things, but he was far from the norm of his collegues
