One of my pet hates are guys who love 'boys toys' (mainly for their looks), but don't know how to use them - especially 'posh' espresso machines that simply end up as ornaments in the kitchen!:doh:

If you're going to invest in a machine like that, then don't be a ponce, and MAKE SURE you know how to get the most out of it!!:exactly:

I agree, and that's what I'd expect of him - and if you really want to do it right, there's loads to learn. However, as you know, we've had others here before with 'all the gear and no idea'!;)

Simpler to use Marco than it might first look.

Came down to ad/disad_vantages/ of E61 group head machines vs double boiler jobs.
Maintenance, usability, features yada yada.

I'll outline my numpty's guide to making espresso later, along with a few tips I've picked up over the last year or so.

Btw, one thing you'll need for best results, no matter how good your tap water is (and hasn't been discussed so far), is a water filter - makes a significant difference to the taste of coffee produced, and also helps keep the internals of your machine clean:)
