Great recently released CD of the now quite rare vinyl version (which I have :D) of this album. Some of the tracklisting is different from the vinyl version but the remastering is pretty good. Recommend listening to "Visage," "The Anvil" and "Hearts & Knives" albums before giving this one a whirl.
I've got that record too, the one where they mix into each other and the tracks are a bit different in places too. Love it. Picked mine up in Camden market in 1992 for £2, along with a hessian covered gatefold of Joy Division - Still for the same price. I was well chuffed!Quote:

Probably not everyones flavour this one, but from a recording point of view it's a stunner, amazing dynamics, punch and production, you just sit back and get blasted away with the big band, the vocals are recorded beautifully. The engineer certainly knew his stuff and did a great job.

Not sure why this album appeals to me, it just does. So I've put in an offer on one on Ebay which claims the vinyl to be NM. I'll find out later if my offer's been accepted (they usually are). Nothing like the bargains you and Lawrence got though.Quote:

Surreal, startling, cinematic, it's all of those things. And Alison's voice makes my hairs stand on end at times. Makes the top twenty of my favourite albums, but I ration myself so I don't get sick of it.

My set up really favours these 80's recordings - I suspect the 2M Black with its super-critical Shibata stylus. Thicker 180g pressings can often sound a bit thick and slow, thinner discs a bit 'faster on their feet'.
About 500 hours on cart now, so saving for replacement stylus. Maybe I should try some thing a little less critical :scratch:
This arrived yesterday, purchased from the bands website, I had not heard of them and noticed someone else posted it on a listening thread, so based on the comments took a chance. By the way the album is very well recorded and mixed, great dynamics and presentation, vinyl is near silent apart from the music.
