was just short of half a tank i think.. still with full tank i have about 400miles range usually. more if im being frugal. its gonna be a miss as whatever im likely to get wont be as good fuel wise me thinks.
Interesting... I know that if I leave here with a full tank of diesel, and drive down to Dover (keeping within speed limits), I'm left with almost exactly half a tank, and that's 280 miles, which suggests that the car has a range of 560 miles (with motorway driving) on a full tank - but of course at greater cost!:)
One advantage I guess of having 7 gears and a big diesel engine, is that it keeps the revs right down on motorway driving. At 80mph, the car's doing less than 2000 revs, and so aside from a nice 'hum' from the sports exhaust, inside the cabin is very quiet.

yeah it comes up with an average in the 400 + range. it takes 43 litres so probably about 450 at an avg of 50mpg, which is usually doable ...certainly in warmer weather. today i had the heating on as its fairly cool. obviously i put less than half tank in, but guage wasnt much above it.Quote:

On empty stretches, free from congestion, that's just the how the flow of the traffic works. It's also why the official speed limit is 70, as they know that folk will do 80, but they won't make that the speed limit, as then most folk would do 90!;)
Secondly, you've assumed that my comment about 80mph was in relation to the point I was making about the range I get with my car on a full tank of diesel, which it wasn't. I was simply stating a fact that at 80mph my car's doing less than 2000 revs, but I wasn't doing 80mph when I was referring to the former and staying within speed limits:)
