They weren't bargains.. Two previous Mk IIs failed to attract bids starting at £125 ish. £90 was probably about right.
Most large-ish speakers are collection only so that is always factored into the normal going price on ebay.
Never have a new price as your reference - that always makes you pay over the odds - you need to know the real secondhand demand for whatever it is and I don't think mid-range, recent speakers are much in demand at all. There are too many sought-after classics and high-end true bargains around for many to bother with mid-range. Might as well save up a little more and find something with more cache..
I think people using new prices as references has accounted much for price increases over the last few years, people who used to buy new have turned to the secondhand market without any experience of what prices used to be and end up bidding too high (but still seems a bargain compared to what they used to spend with their dealer).
