Nope, had nothing done anywhere in the flat. It does look like wet plaster in the pic, but it's a shade darker to the naked eye.

Does look like rust doesn't it ?

That's a sensible suggestion, but again, I've had nothing of that nature in there. And in this weather nothing stays wet for long.

The locations look too random to be rusting nail heads behind the paper.

I did have some hot pepper cheese and crackers earlier, that had a bit of heat to it, but I'd like to hope I'd remember a trauma that left marks on the ceiling.

If it nearly disappears after a swab with bleach, it could be a mould of some sort.
