Best Coast "California Nights" CD. I'm frustrated with this album, it has the sort of jangly melodies that aspire to a Phil Spector sound, but its lo-fi production makes the music very confined - it's woolly and lumpen when it deserves to sparkle and soar. Sounds better on our kitchen portable CD player, which I guess could've been their intention...

By contrast the 2015 remaster CD of David Bowie's "Hunky Dory" is fabulous. To think it was recorded nearly 45 years ago... Superb.

Crossroads festival 2004 audio rip
It's one of those DCC gold CDs, Grant - my dad bought it many years ago, although I was playing it from digital files through the streamer last night. His collection of CDs of course perfectly preserved along with mine. I'm not sure what the audiophile effect of those digital files coming from a gold CD may have been!
I'm in a bit of a jazzy vinyl phase today...

Vinyl copy on the Doxy label -- The type of label I tend to be very suspicious of as I would much rather have a copy on Verve -- but this sounds very well indeed, on lovely quiet vinyl too.

Took the plunge and bought this 2014 reissue. Think I might have made a mistake! First play and it's not sounding good. Nick Davis has not done a good job with the remix. Sounds terribly compressed. Harsh even. I'll give it another couple of goes.
