Nari has been posting pics of some incredibly high-end TTs on here, the Rockport, the Goldmund etc... I'm sure they must sound phenomenal (I've never heard any of them) but boy, are they ugly! Huge lumpy, boxy things... Like equipment I'd expect to see in an industrial workshop of some kind. I couldn't imagine living with any of them , or having one in my living room. Vanishingly low WAF at that level of audio commitment.
I guess at those rarefied altitudes form follows function entirely. Aesthetic considerations are secondary, if at all relevant. I suppose some might love the look, it takes all sorts, but defo not my cup of tea.
Now this, to me, is a good-lookin' table...
Must admit I like the shiny wood look... kind of reminds me of a Bentley or a Roller, a beefy bit of high-end British engineering, all shiny wood veneers and understated power...

I always liked the look of the garrards and the 124 etc and they perform well, I like the big decks like a goldmund rockport etc they have a power and scale that leaves all else behind in my opinion but practical they are not. You cant beat for instance a big meaty platter.
A new Japanese offering the CS PORT AIR FLOAT TAT1 TURNTABLE personally the kind of deck I would be happy to live with, all the right ingredients that make an interesting turntable.
