The thermal compound I used is insanely expensive I think and you can see the excess which I will wipe away. This stuff doesn't dry out.
The new relay is inside the housing behind the resistor. However, it needs screwing back in which is very fiddly. Will do it tomorrow. If it stays powered up, then the DC offset needs trimming followed by transistor bias adjustment.
That ceramic resistor I think must be wider than the original sand cast item. I will probably add an insulator either side to be safe.
Also, I just used some existing mains cable wire I had hanging around to do the job (yellow and green stuff). This is not following convention, but that won't hurt.
