Yes, that's true. There are a couple of downsides to that though. The cost and complexity will be prohibative to some but also there's the issue of actually needing more voltages than that. From what I understand, a feed is taken directly from the power input (before either reg) to power the headphone opamp. So that would need to be taken into consideration if you wanted to use the Gator or standard Caiman/7520 opamp board for headphone use. :)
