Only allowed to be used in slow moving traffic, it's in the article. Plenty of that on motorways.
There was a case here a couple of years back where a bloke hit a stationary artic that had stopped due to blown tyre.
He went right into the back of it at speed and was killed.
He had been reading facebook on his phone at the time. If he had autonomous control on his vehicle and had enabled it before he went on his phone then he'd still be alive.
Most accidents are due to poor driving like that. The odds are the computer driving will be a lot safer then that. Not foolproof, but safer.
You could argue people should just learn to be better drivers/pay proper attention but we all know that won't happen. If every car was autonomous there would be fewer accidents, that's a fact.
37mph i think... 60kph my car will keep a safe distance from can in front and if needed brake to stop. if it does stop it has to be reset tho. Its really for motorways but i use it on other roads(with care). its quite good actually especially if your traffic is quite variable speed wise.. cant be used at roundabouts or sharp corners tho so care and sense need to be used. It will also steer me back into lane if i drift. but i wouldnt trust it without being on the case myself.Quote:
