My cousin Steve also pulled a nurse whist in hospital, been married more than 30 years now.
Of course in those days hospitals were pretty much exactly like you see in the 'Carry On' films.

About 6 years ago I was in the hospital for 10 days following surgery. The very nice looking young nurse, reminded me of Jennifer Aniston, was very friendly with the sponge bath! But, no happy ending. ☹️ after my surgery I really wasn’t up to it anyway. But being an old letch any attention from a young female is always welcome.

Replaced the cable on an old Wolf electric drill. The cable was rubber-clad and used rubber insulation, both or which had started to crack and split.
Not sure exactly how old the drill is, at least fifty years old (the cable used the old colour scheme), but I was very impressed by the good design and the solid engineering. It was designed to be serviced/repaired - unlike today's Made in China crap!
Not so bad if you can stretch to the dearer stuff - me, and most of the people I work with, use mostly Makita or DeWalt power tools, and they are serviceable. Probably not worth it for occasional use though.

Ive bought a few Milwaukee brand wireless tools and am very pleased with the quality, and small size for the power. I’ve only had them 6 or 7 years, but they are still like new and the batteries still charge as always.

Milwaukee power tools are the dog's bollocks, and I would have gone down that route if I hadn't already 'pledged allegiance' to Makita. They were very sneaky about how they got me - they brought out a really good DAB site radio which runs on the same L-Ion batteries as my tools - the batteries are compatible with all of them. If I bought another brand now it would be like starting from scratch.
I do have one Milwaukee cordless screwdriver, it came with one battery which goes on forever. It's been invaluable this last few days as it fits nicely in my broken hand. :)
I know what you mean, you buy into a brand, and you’re stuck with it. I found myself having to start over, so I looked around, and Milwaukee had a nice verity of tools that all used the super small M12 battery. So far I’ve got the 3/8” drill, and a similar screw gun, the small sawzall, super handy by the way, a very bright LED flashlight, and my daughter and Father both have heated pullover sweaters powered by the same battery, Milwaukee emblem on the chest. I’ve also got several of the extra capacity batteries, and a half dozen of the small batteries. I want to get the 3/8” ratchet wrench, it’s not as strong as an air powered ratchet, but being cordless it’s still very useful. And I want the full sized battery powered skill saw! It uses the 18 volt battery, so it’s not compatible, but I’ve read that it’s a good as a corded saw. Expensive at $260.Quote:

I have the LIDL equivalent. It works brilliantly. I give it a lot of use and it never plays up, the battery lasts about an hour of continuous work. I can put it away for a couple of months and the battery remains charged and ready to go.
I should check out Lidl stuff, some of it I'm told is great value. But do you have to get there on a particular day to avoid disappointment?

Thumbs up for Makita tools. After years of struggling with cheapo drills and jigsaws I started replacing them with Makitas. So much easier to use, for instance the jigsaw actually cuts in straight lines!

All the images I've posted using tinypic have disappeared. Whether this is due to hosting site maintenance or something else who knows? The ominous thing is that tinypic are owned by photobucket, who killed all unsubscribed images on their own site unless a 'ransom' was paid.

For anyone who might be interested, the International Space Station will be visible to people in London (providing the sky is clear) on Thursday at 7.05pm. It will appear at 21 deg above the horizon (about 2 fists high held at arms length) at SW, and disappear at 10 deg above SSE, duration 3 minutes.
So looking South West, it'll be moving left to right, and dropping slightly. It'll just be a light moving quickly, not exactly a fireworks display, so not everyone will find this interesting.
Bloody London gets everything.
Lights are so bright outside my house I couldn't see a damn thing even if it did deign to fly over here. It's like the Las Vegas Strip out there. In the old days there were only two crappy 'sodium' lights in the entire street and one would always be broken. It was great. You could see the Milky Way when there was no moon. Now the place is floodlit. You could perform brain surgery on the pavement I'm not kidding.

Well, cast is off, and providing I don't bang it hard on anything, I should be fine. But I think my boxing career has ended before it even began. :( Busy picking chunks of something off my hand now, not sure if it's dead skin or plaster residue, but it's yellow and looks pretty minging. Looking forward to a right handed arse wipe in the morning. :)
My friend's wife (who's a nurse) warned me I'll have a fair bit of pain in my wrist, which I do, and recommended getting a glucosamine gel for it. So next stop Holland & Barrett.
