Star Wars, the first movie in the pre-special edition theatrical version on non-anamorphic DVD. Looks a bit dotty and fuzzy blown up on the 100" screen but it's still an impressive spectacle. The original 'Dolby Surround' soundtrack stands up pretty well, too.
Keep meaning to get hold of a copy of that. I have the special edition but hate the idiotic 'improvements'. The original version is a classic.

Interesting thriller about a serial killer using the phone to kill. Bit dated but still good.

'Kate Humble: My Sheepdog and me.' She looks quite a lot like one of my sister in laws. We meet a dog that has eyes like David Bowie. (It sort of does). I can't imagine watching this sober.

Bruce Willis is a retired CIA agent - blah blah - good cast with Morgan Freeman, John Malkovitch, Helen Mirren, Karl Urban. Starts out as a serious spy thriller then gets a little silly. I wondered if it didn't start out as a more serious, quite dark film, but at some point someone decided to pour sub Ocean's Eleven faux-cool on the thing, including on the soundtrack, which means it ends up being neither one thing or the other.
In short, it is not as good as Under Siege. But just the sight of Helen Mirren in a ballgown continuously firing a .50 calibre machine gun means it is worth a watch.
There's talk (but that's all it seems to be at the moment) that the original theatrical trilogy may be on its way to blu-ray. I'm fairly relaxed about these things, generally and the 'latest' special editions are fabulous on blu-Ray even with Lucas' changes. The fuzziness of the DVD was occasionally distracting, (they were produced from the letterbox laserdisc master apparently and I'm sure they'd look splendid on a big 4:3 CRT) but it was nice to see it in its original form.Quote:

Thoroughly gripping - some of the tech is hyped up for dramatic purposes (although some of it not that far from reality) -- but the questions of the morality of remote warfare and potential for collateral damage is the real heart of the film. Excellent stuff, and Alan Rickman is excellent in his last on screen role.
Back to the future (1985) original film that started the legend. Superb stuff all the way with Michael J Fox and Chris Lloyd
