If you like car films, Two Lane Blacktop is a cult classic, though set in 1971 it "stars" a '55 Chevy, James Taylor and Dennis Wilson.

Well if he does, remind him that it'll be left hand drive, slow, incredibly noisy inside and depending on age, it'll have limited spares availablility and what he can get will be pricey. The drum brakes will be terrible to the point of being dangerous. There'll be no power steering and likely a terribly tired and vague column gearchange. Quite probably a beam axle at the front leading to appalling steering/handling. A hefty cast iron block engine at the front and a light back end meaning that it will try to spin around if he boots it and will probably fly off through the nearest hedge at the slightest excuse. Not that he'll be able to open the throttle much without the back wheels losing traction and spinning anyway. The ten MPG won't be too useful either and even 'classic' insurance could be steep.Quote:
