I reckon Russell will be fine, he just needs plenty of "mental posts therapy". And here you are!

You may have been too young for much of the seventies fun, but probably just about the right age for what was dubbed "The Second Summer Of Love", which must have been about 1987. I didn't come into it until the early nineties by which time I was a thirtysomething. Made me the oldest swinger in town, but no one minded. I imagine you being a bit of a ravehead at some point, don't spoil it by saying you weren't :)

Certainly in 87 I was having a lot of fun... I was earning a decent salary and was sharing good times with a guy, including a fair bit of 'substance' I guess...

Funny you should mention about being the "oldest swinger in town" as I was much the same. My work colleagues were all younger than me but I was the one having the most fun when we were 'out on the town' as it were... :eyebrows:

Best early years for me, when I had most fun as a youngster, were from 79-83. So many great memories during that era, for all manner of reasons!:D:eyebrows:

Before that, I was really too young to have gotten up to anything that exciting. Would've loved to have been, say, 16 in 1963.... As knowing what I know now, I'd have loved to have been in the thick of things from then, right through until the late 70s. A veritable golden era, IMO:)

I’m healing fine Nina, today I went walking without my cane. Just small steps, pushing myself just a little. My next visit with my surgeon isn’t until August 8, so I guess that means I’m in the slow lane right now?

And I’ve thought the exact same thing Marco, I always felt I was a decade too late! If I’d been born in ‘52 rather than ‘62, I’d have been happier with the world at large. Happier with the music, happier with the times, the fashions, and, um, party favors. But all things happen for a reason. Once out of school, I instantly became friends with people much older than me, people I met at work. Many times they were surprised that I knew the words to songs that were, “before my time”.

And I’ve just learned that I’m not only a good uncle, but I’m going to be a Great Uncle! Yes, my niece is pregnant, 8 weeks apparently. She and her husband are such good looking people I’m sure the baby will be gorgeous!

But then you might have been drafted in to fight in Vietnam.

There are obvious times/places that were not good to be born in (most places in Europe in the run up to WWII if you were Jewish, for example, or China during the Cultural Revolution), but for the most part, family circumstances and individual personality traits count for far more than the coincidences around the year in which you were born.

You make a very good point! While I see things a bit differently now days, in my youth I was very anti-authority, and I’d have wound up in military prison before I ever got to Vietnam. I guess things did work out for the best. While I think back and see things I should have done differently, if I had to do it over, I’d probably make all the same mistakes. And I wouldn’t want to do anything that may have caused my daughter to not be born, or be who she is today. She is the one thing I got right! And the single greatest accomplishment of my life.

Closer to two decades, for me, in terms of being the right age to enjoy [the things I'd have loved] during the era in question;)

I also think the mid to late 50s would've been a cool time to have been a teenager or young adult, especially in the States [loved the style of the cars then and the whole 'rock 'n' roll' era, diners, jukeboxes and drive-in movies, Dean Martin and Sinatra, Elvis, etc], and in the UK when all sorts of cool new things were being produced, including some amazing speakers and valve-based hi-fi equipment!
