The rear lawn of my parent's place was a little under a quarter of an acre in size. My father was thinking of getting a 'sit on' mower, but as there were several small trees there, he employed a gardener instead.

The structures are the gates for the old Acton Hall estate [https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/23...rdens-wrexham/], residence of the infamous hanging judge Jeffreys, and we live in the gatehouse. As Barry says, those are greyhounds on top, hence our house is called Greyhound Lodge, dating from 1887.

Lot of history there. Shame the old house had to be demolished. Like most things it all comes down to money, spending as little as possible and making as much as possible. I'm assuming your gatehouse is listed though.
