I have a favourite watchmaker who does amazing work, athough I'm based on the south coast I use a chap in the jewellery quarter in Birmingham, proper highly skilled expert and very fair prices. He's quoted me around £350 plus any parts that may be needed but that does include a new seconds hand as the current one has faded from bright orange to pale pink!!!. My brother put me on to him as he's been having his watches maintained there for thirty odd years and always gets great service.
I did try to learn watchmaking many years ago but my sausage fingers and bad temper tantrums when trying to find springs that have pinged off went against tackling anything worthwhile lol.
My friend also left me some other watches, a Swiss Emperor chrono and a couple of Citizen Eco Drives, all nice items.
