Homes Under The Hammer. Bloke buys a Grade Two Listed Georgian house in London that has clearly not had a penny spent on it since it was built and is then surprised that he has to spend £200K to sort it out. Turns out quite well though.
One of many programmes that has me shouting at the telly, those so called developers/'project managers' with their miniscule budgets (new roof, replaster, rewire, install new heating, kitchen, bathroom for as much as £2k!). I had to give up daytime tv for the sake of my blood pressure :steam:
I went though a phase of watching some homes shows; grand designs mostly. I found the Aussie version the most enjoyable though, but both suffered from same under budget situations. Some were hideous, but some were nice too. Need to win zee lottery to do mine, which will be a thick walled cottage with machine-gun emplacements:eyebrows:
Well I've been getting a bit of culture by watching some fantastic productions of Shakespear plays. Richard III with Ian Mckellen, absolutely brilliant, gripping and superbly acted. Trevor Nunn's Twelfth Night, very enjoyable, Nigel Hawthorn as Malvolio is excellent. The Merchant of Venice with Al Pachino, just breathtaking, Pachino's Shylock is masterly. Sorry to be a bit gushy but I really do recommend any of these. There we go, back to my usual diet of Alien and British gangster films.
Continued with ep 10 of outlander2, (victory over the English at Prestonpans) ;) ...........and now ep21 of law and order season1. Both excellent series....
2 great episodes there... round off the evening with some Slackbladder ;)
All from my Amazon digital library
Hauntingly beautiful, but very creepy and somewhat disturbing film, about a writer who moves into a Victorian house and finds that its past is not at peace. Not a big budget film, but done well, with good acting and well worth a watch if you like ghost stories.
Over 18s film
