The '80s to me seemed to be dominated by ephemeral pop groups which despite having imaginative names such as: Aztec Camera; Cabaret Voltaire; Altered Images; Duran Duran; Culture Club, etc. only produced a couple of decent songs that lasted.
There were however some good post-punk bands of the '80s such as: The Police; U2 and the Cure.

I agree, much better examples of that period imo. You had 'grunge', and bands like Faith No More, Nirvana, Guns 'n' Roses, Pearl Jam, Pixies and various other 4AD labelmates, Red Hot Chili Peppers. Also a great time if you were into EDM, with The Orb, Underworld Primal Scream, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, to name a few. Really revived my interest in buying music :)Quote:
