Well, the carpet might be held on with gripper...the guy could be a carpet layer.
Anyway, you wouldn't want to take them off, you'd compromise the beautiful balance he has achieved with this ensemble.

They look like they've been home reconed with gold cones, quite a bit of edge plasticiser liberally slopped about, but the edge terminating cord looking too starved.
Red cones are still available from Lockwood as far as I know, costing £500ish. Reconing is pretty easy on Tannoys. On the plus side, those hammerited baskets are the real deal, not the 'gold' reds that seem to crop up so often on ebay, and these 'proper' reds are pretty well silvers with dustcaps. Not a bargain though...probably about a third too much.
