Bargains on ebay?

Not Seen this Model Before

It wasn't a pointless argument it was a genuine question, I know little about styli and wondered what an assessment might be based on.

I guess what you are saying is that you prefer the sound of the FG- based on your question towards me. In answer to that question, I like the sound of it, but I fully understand that doesn't say anything representative about the absolute merits of the cartridge, only my personal preference for it.

I now understand that you were expression an opinion not a statement based on technical fact/measurement.

No worries Simon. The FG tips to my ears give notes better definition. Notes start and stop with such agility and clarity, it can be quite stunning. These comments are based on my own preference.

£520 is a good price. Often go for more like £650-£750 but I think the main difference in price between £500 and £700 is entirely down to whether it's a UK only auction or not..

I saw one that had had 2hrs on it since a retip sell for £550 only for the buyer (a kind of eBay dealer) to sell on straight away with an auction listing for £1750! He only stated it had 2hrs on it and that it was an original Sugano model.. neglected to say it was 2hrs since RE-TIP! I hope the foreign buyer didn't feel too ripped off (it was an obvious, very blobby ESC re-tip).

That's life and sometimes people do get ripped off not just buying but selling too. It has happened to me personally but you just have to take it on the chin and move on.

Dom has no plans for the time being on selling his Koetsu. Although, I wanted him to resell it but he wants to keep it for now as he said to me "probably wouldn't see another one for that price for an age". But at the moment no plans to sell :rolleyes:.

That's true in terms of eBays T&Cs ('Rules and Regulations'?? It's just a website, not an authoritarian regime). In terms of real world law though, no seller/buyer contract is made until you both agree on price and sale terms and obviously there is no agreement.

So, yeah, report the buyer but to be honest there is nothing you can do that will stop him from doing it again - no limits to how many accounts you can buy with even if eBay bothered to do anything.
