Exactly how I feel about them, convenience is about all they have going for them. Also one other thing, with a David Bowie LP which was an unsolicited Christmas present from a relative, "Nothing Has Changed" - the tracks are the 'single edits', and aren't the full length album versions. That kind of thing bugs me.

As with Barry, they are nearly all car boot or charity shop purchases, so that's alright. If spending full whack I always favour a 'regular' album by someone I like over a 'best of' by an artist with a patchy output.

Two that I remember from my youth are "Fill Your Head With Rock" and "The Age of Atlantic". There will be others, but my memory of the early 70s is a bit fuzzy :)

Was a good way to expand your musical horizons. Led me to "The Madcap Laughs" by Syd Barrett, and "Sacrifice" by Black Widow, amongst others.

Yes that one is an exception, and one I would buy (haven't yet). I think Barry recommended that very album on a different thread a couple of years ago :) Or it might have been Macca

Yup, we're in agreement there, gringo.

Only thing with me is that I almost never buy 'pop' records from charity shops, as they're almost never in acceptable condition (I'm *super* fussy in that respect). Classical or jazz only, as they tend to be well-looked after. So any second-hand 'pop' (rock, etc) albums I own have been bought from record shops, where I've paid decent money for examples in near-mint condition:)

Do you own a professional record cleaner, btw? I wouldn't entertain buying second-hand vinyl otherwise...

:o You know I haven't, I know this because you've asked me before! I'll get round to it at some point so stop nagging!

My car boot/charity shop purchases are limited to CD, with the odd s/h vinyl coming from record shops where I can see the condition before buying. I've risked the odd purchase online, (ex+ or nm) and so far I've been lucky, touch wood :)

Yeah, CDs are generally fine, although I certainly wouldn't entertain any that were scratched. RCMs, though, are a vital tool in the arsenal of any serious vinyl enthusiast - jeez, even brand new records are rarely 'clean'...

This turned up today, I purchased it on recommendation by a Grant(Struth), and as I am a sucker for Prog Rock, I found a relatively well priced NM/NM copy, I already have their first album which is great. It seems copies of this can fetch quite a lot. On first listen it is good musically with some interesting sound effects used on some tracks, different to their first album but certainly a good one.
