Be serious. £500 for a pair of Tannoy Audiometric bass drivers? Nuts! That's ten times what they're worth. I'm fairly sure Tannoy used to source these from Fane. Not that that is a bad thing, but they ain't worth a lot.

£1000 for a pair of Tannoy IIILZ speakers. They just aren't that good.

A superb amp if you have LS3/5a's...

I had one for a while and it really is a great match for LS3/5a's... ;)

Could be of interest to some, looks like late 70's crimson amps , + 2 pre amps. nicotine stained knobs, great item description.:)
I had this pairing in the eighties - with the upper preamp in the listing - I think it was 170 watts into four ohms, less into eight. I made it from a kit. Not too shabby - I seem to remember it easily seeing off my mates Naim kit (NAP 160?). I replaced it with a Krell KSA 100 mk2/KSL. Better, yes, but the Crimson stuff stayed with me for nearly a decade very happily and musically.
Nutcase buyers! A small tube of Garrard bearing grease, now bid up to £51 and not finished yet. Crazy!

well its obvious he does not know what grease does
blow me look at the state of the caravan he is selling. only fit for chickens n scrap:lol:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Ca...item3cf3456484
That's a 'Des Res' by my standards! :)
That caravan looks allright to me. Lots of famous people lived in caravans - Jim Rockford, Riggs out of Lethal Weapon, Trapper John MD (he had it sorted, parked it up in the hospital car park, 2 minute walk and he was home), Alan Partridge, Petrocelli...(although the last two were just technically living in them until their houses were built, I grant you).
I hope no unfortunate person buys these thinking they are getting 'proper' Tannoys.

Worth a tenth of the price in my view.
Original 35 year old Dynavector 10X high output MC cartridge. I had one new back then, they weren't very expensive but sounded rather nice. This looks like a good example. The seller has decent stuff.

I think it was last week someone on AOS wanted additional weight for their 'SME '3009'

A couple of meridian monoblocks http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2216918172...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
....and a Harman-Kardon PA2200 Power Amplifier http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1314350534...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I like the look of this Lecson power amp.
Yes they called em Modular series '101'/'103'/'104'/'105'..
Later on there was a whole different series that was truly a Modular jobbie was the Nextel Zebra {componet amp} These came out in the early 80's..
Im your man for Quantum Electronics Had '101'/'402'/ 2X205'.. Alser had '207DA' That Dual Active '207' was a great amp. You could power the '102' pre from the '207' or use the dedicated '402' PSU for the Pre...
...well he will have 3 tubes instead of 2:eyebrows:
Had those in the link below aswell. ferk me when i think about it i was an Audio industries dream in the 80's/90's  There are very good sounding combo, That will be an easy fix what ever it is. Built like a tank, that aluminium enclosure/Sleeve is real heavy weight, weighs a ton.
On that note if i ever saw a mint Crimson Elektrik '510'/'520' at a good price id buy it for old times sake, this is the pre/power amp i used to run with the J.A Michell 'Hydraulic Ref' i used to have. Ace days them..
All this Memory lane mumbo Jumbo tonight! Don't worry im not Dying :D

Marco seen these?

Most interesting... Especially, as one driver is a 15" Monitor Red and the other a 15" Monitor Gold - and they claim that you can’t hear any difference!! :hmm:
Marco.
Dat’s wot I thought, dude. You could easily pay that (and more) for one! Plus the bonus is that they’re in the UK, so no fannying about with import tax/duty or waiting ages for them to arrive :yay:
Original listing here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2816033695...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

A real rarity. Tannoy Corner Autograph factory drawings 1957.

Build your own pair!
Lol… The point is, they are two totally different speakers with different electrical characteristics and different amplifier requirements, which consequently sound totally different!!
I know because there were 15” Reds originally inside my Lockwood cabs, which sounded nothing like my Golds (pre or post crossover mods). Therefore, to claim that both speakers advertised sound the same is nonsense, and as such, you’d be sat listening to two different sounds coming out of each speaker…………..
Marco.
Bev, if there were two 15” Monitor Reds inside, those speakers would be worth about £5k (or more), and with Golds inside about £3.5/4k. However, with one of each, they’re worth, well……unless you’re deaf, into MONO and/or are Elton John’s greatest ever fan! :D
Marco.
I guess for all the Elton John provenance not meaning a whole lot to us on the forum, there are those for whom it's a big draw.
I'd imagine these will finish up well above their intrinsic worth, because of that provenance.
I'd also imagine, that if they are sold on at some future date, even if the Gold or the Red is replaced by whatever driver makes up the pairing that floats the buyers boat, the drivers here will be included, because they're Elton's drivers, and mismatched though they are, the mismatch is now well known - like it or not, part of the provenance.
Next up a genuine pair of designer fabric ears, the former property of Elton John. Provenance? Unassailable - the Tannoys recently offered on ebay are conclusive proof that Mr Johns ears were in fact cloth...
Nice LUXMAN TT
Lovely pair of AR 4xa
Shame the original 'oatmeal' grille cloth has been replaced and there's no picture showing the drive units, so no way of telling if they are OK. Doped fabric surrounds on the bass drivers I believe, they are usually sound. They were very musical little speakers, if not that refined.
