yup, room temp(18/19c), or slightly below for me, but with bourbon i like it a bit closer to body temp. maybe 24/25c.
my mates dad loved Bells and would accept no other.

However, most 10-year old malts haven't matured enough yet to lose their 'fiery' edge, which is why I tend to go for, minimum, 12-year old malts, and preferably older still, which have been matured in sherry casks.

the glenmorangie lasanta is sherry casked 12 yr old.. had numerous bottles.. is very good.

One bottle I still have is an Edradour Chateauneuf du Cape cask; bought it on our honeymoon back in Dec 2010 and you cant buy it any more; I bought 2 of each of the 4 cask bottles back then; hopefully they'll grow in value :D

There is air let into the casks during the ageing process.
I don't have a problem with any of them tasting "off". Personally, I enjoy the differences between the whisky, and would find it rather boring to stick to one bottle at a time.

Talking of which, today was really a shit day - literally. I have been suffering with slow drainage from the shower, most noticeable when we have visitors with more traffic in the bathroom, and one of the toilets, which was causing air escaping back up through a toilet. The other bathroom and toilets drain fine, so it had to be a blockage. Out came the 30m long drain jetter and pressure washer. After an hour of sticking my head in the opening of a sceptic tank, we have a result.... The drain is clear. Then the Mrs goes out on a routine shop, and she loses all drive on the car. No warnings, just a clunk and the car refuses to move under it's own power. It starts fine, and you can still select the gears, so it is likely to be a collapsed clutch plate, or the dual mass flywheel giving up the ghost, and the two sections are now independent. Add to that all of the other crappy little jobs, and I feel that I have earned myself a wee dram in way of recompense.Quote:

Well I'm still rotten with this fecking head-cold and I've drained my Ardbeg Corry; so having to make do with JW Blue Label of all things :lol: and Glenfiddich Experimental Project XX, which I have to say, for a normal whisky (ie chill-filtered and coloured); is very bloody suppable :D
Need to buy a few more bottles in; the Blue Label won't be supped dry, yet. It's still being treated as a special bottle, as is the Edradour Ballechin Burgandy cask bottle too ;)
Need a few 'ever day' suppers in; need to have a root on Amazon to see what takes my fancy!
Could I give you a recommendation, Dan, as a quality malt for that very purpose? For me, this is a lovely drop, and well priced, too:Quote:

Re the Aberlour; I’m not a fan tbh, just find it a bit meh, a bit only ok. Would rather go for an Auchentoshen at that price. However, the A’Bundah is a very nice drop, but screaming up in price currently :scratch:

The basic auchentoshan is pretty good. A bit tough at edges but really hits the spot. I could drink a lot of it at a sitting
