Thanks Hugo, I received my collars today. Didn't take long all the way to Tokyo! The first one was immediately installed on the SP10, Jelco SA-750lb 12" with the Ortofon SPU Royal GM mkII. the benefit of the collar with the SPU is that you can't really easily set azimuth on the SPU as there is no flat surface on the headshell so you are relying on the arm itself being right relative to the armboard. Your collar fixes the gross variability in azimuth the original Jelco collar can introduce. It's just better.
Nicely finished quality pieces too. I'm very pleased. More pics to come over time as the rest of the collars find their homes on various decks with Jelco and Ortofon tonearms.

Shugg's, received my new black one this morning, its a beauty and like you said, the finish is much better than your Mark 1 model which I also have. Delivery on my order was unbelievably quick seeing as I paid by cheque, posted Monday, arm collar received this morning (Thursday). Packaging is good and robust, the box contains all necessary quality bolts, nuts Allen key plus clear advice sheet, what more could you want... a Jelco arm thrown in for free? Forget the free arm, go buy the collar and buy the arm.

There is another batch in the pipeline, available towards the end of May. I'm experimenting with a grey finish to better match the SA-750 tonearms, so if that turns out to be successful, there will be three colour choices.
MCRU may still have one of my black collars in stock, so give David a call.
I found this thread interesting...not because I have a Jelco, but because the problem with inadequate support around the collar seems all too common. Even highly costly arms such as the Triplanar and Graham are fixed with just a screw forcing the superstructure of the arm against the column. Potential azimuth issues are only one problem with these designs. It just is not a decent engineering solution to 'lock' the arm with only a screw, the surface area is too small.
This is one of the areas where SME show their design superiority. Their arms include a properly engineered clamp so that the whole column is firmly grasped.
But when properly implemented, that is a perfectly good way of securing the arm pillar in an accurate and consistent manner. Take a look at a Linn Ittok/Ekos mounting collar and you'll see what I mean.Quote:
